As the summer starts to heat up, many couples will take the plunge in their own wedding throughout these bright months. Back in May, I had the chance to photograph two more weddings after a long break from photography due to graduate school. It felt great to get back in the swing and stress of wedding photography, and it did not take long to get my focusing and shooting muscles to remember exactly how to get any needed shot in a hurry.
As I have done in some past posts, I will let the photos speak for themselves here. These shots are from Valerie and Ben’s wedding in Nicholasville, KY at a small church (with a children’s playroom for the guys’ dressing room, fun shots there!) and later at a country club. Helping out as my backup photographer and lighting assistant was Justin Tackett, shooting with a Nikon d3200 and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. As always, click on the photos for larger sizes!

The week prior, I also shot the small wedding of Tanya and Harold in Cincinnati, OH. All outdoors and clear skies proved to make some strong direct lighting for the ceremony, but the small tea party reception under some shade helped even things out for the camera. Three cheers for Lightroom 5’s excellent highlight recovery!

That’s all for this photo-filled post, everyone! I hope to shoot more this Fall when I can make some more time for freelance work, and I will tell everyone of the reason for my prolonged absence in my next post. 🙂 Be sure to check out Justin’s work at his Facebook page!

Beautiful pictures! I am a bit biased….but you are a wonderful photographer and I would recommend you to anyone. I can’t wait to see the next post, but more importantly, I can’t wait to see you again. (BTW, if this sounds a bit familiar, I wasn’t sure if my last post was saved :))
Matthew, Justin…. These are wonderful…. Bravo! Can’t wait to see the rest!
Thank you so much, it was a pleasure photographing it!
